How to Get a Good Fit With Reusable Period Pads
Finding the right reusable pad is all about choosing the coverage, shape and absorbency that feels comfortable for your body and your flow. There is no single “right” pad for everyone, and many people prefer a small mix of shapes and lengths for different days of their period.
Start With the Right Length
Pad length is about the coverage you need from front to back.
- Shorter pads are great for lighter days, spotting, discharge or everyday use.
- Medium lengths are a popular choice for regular daytime protection.
- Longer pads offer more coverage for heavy flow, sleeping, sitting for long periods or when you simply prefer extra reassurance.
Think about where you tend to need the most protection. If leaks usually happen at the front or back, choose a longer pad or position your pad slightly further forward or back in your underwear.
Choose a Shape That Feels Comfortable
Our shapes are designed to suit different bodies, underwear styles and personal preferences.
- Hourglass offers a comfortable everyday shape with secure wing placement.
- Hourglass Wide gives extra width and coverage through the centre.
- Classic is a versatile, straight-sided option.
- Petite is narrower and ideal for those who prefer a less bulky fit.
- Slim is our most discreet standard-width option, while still offering dependable protection.
A wider pad can feel more secure for heavy flow or bladder leaks. A narrower shape may feel more comfortable for everyday wear, smaller frames or close-fitting underwear.
Wear Your Pad With Snug, Comfortable Underwear
Reusable pads work best in underwear that holds them securely in place. Choose briefs that fit comfortably against your body without being restrictive.
Position the pad where you naturally need coverage, fasten the wings underneath your underwear and make sure the pad lies flat. The wings should feel secure, but not tight or uncomfortable.
Match Your Absorbency to Your Flow
Choose absorbency based on your flow, not only the length of the pad. You may prefer a shorter pad with higher absorbency during the day, or a longer pad with extra coverage for overnight use.
Many customers build a mix of liners, regular, heavy and night pads so they have the right option for every stage of their cycle.
Give Yourself Time to Find Your Perfect Combination
Your first reusable pad order does not need to be perfect. Start with a small selection, try them at home or on a lighter day, and take note of what feels best.
You may find that you prefer:
- A wider pad for heavy days
- A longer pad for sleeping
- A slimmer pad for daytime wear
- Different shapes depending on your underwear or activity
- More than one absorbency across your period
Reusable pads are designed to work around you. Once you know your favourite shape, length, fabric and absorbency, creating your perfect pad stash becomes easy.
