Reusable pads for Bladder leaks

Reusable Pads for Bladder Leaks

Bladder leaks are more common than many people realise. They can happen when you cough, laugh, sneeze, exercise, lift something heavy, feel a sudden urge to wee or simply cannot get to the toilet quickly enough.

Reusable pads can offer a comfortable, lower-waste option for managing light bladder leaks and everyday confidence. At TCS-eco, our reusable pads are made to order and available in different lengths, widths, fabrics and absorbencies, so you can choose the protection that feels right for you.

Choosing the Right Pad for Bladder Leaks

The best pad depends on how much protection you need, where you need coverage and how long you plan to wear it.

For lighter leaks, spotting or occasional drips, a liner or regular absorbency pad may be enough. For more frequent leaks, longer wear, heavier leakage or extra reassurance when you are out and about, you may prefer a Heavy, Night or Confidence pad.

Use our Pad Core and Absorbency Guide to compare the available absorbency options.

Many people find that a mix works best:

  • Liner pads for very light leaks, discharge or everyday reassurance
  • Regular pads for light bladder leaks and daytime wear
  • Heavy pads for more noticeable leaks or longer days
  • Night pads for heavier leakage, travel, sitting for long periods or overnight use
  • Confidence pads for people who need the highest level of reusable protection

Choose the Right Length and Width

Length gives you front-to-back coverage, while width gives you side-to-side coverage.

A shorter pad can work well for occasional light leaks, but a longer pad may feel more secure when you are sitting, driving, sleeping or moving around for long periods.

A wider pad can be especially useful if you prefer fuller coverage, find that narrower pads move during wear or need extra reassurance around the centre of your underwear.

Read our Reusable Pad Fit Guide and Pad Width Guide to find the shape and coverage that feels best for you.

You may prefer:

  • A Slim or Petite shape for light everyday use
  • A standard-width pad for regular daytime protection
  • An Hourglass Wide or longer pad for extra coverage and confidence
  • A longer Night pad for overnight wear or heavier leaks

Choose Waterproof Backing for Extra Reassurance

For bladder leaks, we recommend choosing a pad with waterproof PUL fleece backing.

PUL fleece creates a waterproof barrier between the absorbent core and your underwear, helping to protect against moisture passing through the pad.

Windpro is water-resistant rather than waterproof, so it is better suited to lighter use where a full waterproof barrier is not needed.

Read the Pad Backing Guide to compare waterproof PUL fleece and water-resistant Windpro.

Choose a Topping That Feels Comfortable

The fabric against your skin is called the topping. Your preferred topping can make a big difference to how your pad feels during the day.

  • Minky is smooth, stain-resistant and designed to give a stay-dry feel.
  • Bamboo Velour is soft, plush and ideal when comfort is your priority.
  • Cotton Jersey is breathable, soft and available in a wide range of prints.

Many customers choose Minky for everyday bladder-leak protection because it is hard-wearing and easy to care for, while Bamboo Velour can be a lovely choice for softness and comfort.

Read the Pad Topping Guide to compare Cotton Jersey, Bamboo Velour and Minky.

How Should a Reusable Pad Fit?

Your pad should lie flat inside snug, comfortable underwear and sit where you naturally need protection.

Fasten the wings underneath your underwear so the pad stays secure without feeling tight. If you notice leaks at the front or back, try a longer pad or adjust the position slightly. If you notice leaks at the sides, try a wider shape.

A reusable pad should feel secure, not bulky or restrictive.

Can I Use Reusable Pads Alongside Period Pants?

Yes. Some people use a reusable pad inside period pants for extra confidence on heavier days, while travelling or when they want additional protection.

Choose underwear that fits securely enough to keep the pad in place, and avoid adding more bulk than feels comfortable for you.

Washing Reusable Pads for Bladder Leaks

After use, fold the pad with the used side inside and fasten the poppers if preferred. Store it in a wet bag or waterproof storage bag until wash day.

Wash at 30–40°C using your usual detergent. Avoid fabric softener, as this can affect absorbency over time. Air dry where possible, or use a low tumble dry occasionally if needed.

When to Speak to a GP

Reusable pads can help you manage leaks, but they do not treat the cause.

Speak to a GP if you have any type of urinary incontinence, if leaks are becoming more frequent, if they are affecting your day-to-day life, or if you are worried about your symptoms. A GP can discuss possible causes and support options, including pelvic-floor training, bladder training or referral to a continence service.
